Joe Mazulla Fined 5 Digits For Targeted Comments To Ref
NBADecember 21, 2024
Earlier today, Joe Mazulla (The head coach of the Boston Celtics) received a $35,000 fine for how he talked to the officials of last night’s game against the Bulls. Mazulla “crashed out” after 3 technical fouls had been assessed to the Celtics (one to Tatum, one to Brown, and one to Joe Mazulla). In defense of the fine, Mazulla said, “I just hadn't seen them in a while, so just a merry Christmas, happy holidays, I wasn't sure I was going to see them before the holiday. I just can't let a moment go by where you wish someone just the best to them and theirs and their families.” The video evidence of how Mazulla acted highly suggested this is not true. The reasons for these technical fouls were “Overt actions towards the ref (Tatum), and Questioning the Integrity of the Officiating (Brown).” Jaylen Brown was not happy with any of these calls, and claims nobody said or did anything. “You can’t threaten people with technical fouls,” Brown said.
